Our methodology

How we rank and verify dental offices

FindOpenDentist helps patients build a reliable call list. We explain where listing data comes from, what “open now” means, and why claimed offices receive stronger placement.

Methodology updated September 8, 2026

Claim and verification status

Claimed offices receive stronger placement because an authorized office representative can maintain the profile. Verified information and office-confirmed availability receive additional priority.

Availability confidence

Office-confirmed openings are ranked above availability inferred only from public business hours. Published hours never guarantee that an office can accept a patient.

Listing completeness

Useful profiles with a phone number, address, hours, services, and website are easier for patients to evaluate and may rank above incomplete profiles.

Location and relevance

Results are matched to the requested city, ZIP code, distance, and type of care, such as emergency, same-day, weekend, or new-patient care.

What “open now” means

The label is calculated from the office hours available to FindOpenDentist. Holiday schedules, staffing, and appointment capacity can change without notice. Always call the office before traveling and ask whether it can handle your specific need.

Corrections and accountability

Office information may come from public sources or directly from a claimed office. Providers can claim a listing to maintain it. Patients and offices can report incorrect hours, contact information, duplicates, or closed locations.
